Tippa’s Creek

Tippa’s Creek is a special project that my wife and I have been working on. In January 2020 we purchased 15 acres of raw, heavily-wooded land in the Catskills which came with mountain views and a babbling creek, but no access road and lots of big rocks. I found an old excavator on Craig’s List, repaired it, and built a road down to the creek we named Tippa’s. With the help of my architect father-in-law we designed a tiny cabin that would feel like a treehouse, with huge windows and high ceilings. Little by little, with lots of learning along the way, we have being making the cabin a reality with our own two hands and help from friends (and YouTube). The cabin is totally off-grid and I’m especaily proud of our solar power system and water treatment system. This has been, and continues to be, one of the hardest and most rewarding projects I’ve done, but we are excited to enjoy the result for years to come.
